Biography: Sheldon Thompson established scoring and rebounding records while earning Chicago Daily News Little All-State recognition. He was an All-Little Ten Conference selection while competing at Newark High School. Thompson established scoring and rebound records at Illinois Wesleyan University that lasted until NBA star Jack Sikma bettered them in 1976. Thompson still ranks high on the career list with his 1,573 points as a Titan. He averaged 18.7 as a senior in 1971, when he scored 485 points.  The 6’ 2” Thompson’s career 1,069 rebounds at Illinois Wesleyan allowed him to be named to the NAIA District 21 All-Star team in 1971 the Titans won the title for the second straight year. He was named as an All-CCIW team member in 1971. It was also 1971 when Thompson was named most valuable player at Illinois Wesleyan.
