Arthur Trout

Biography: Arthur L. Trout was a legend at Centralia HS for 39 years.  The State’s all time top winner as of his induction in 1973, Coach Trout achieved 809 victories for an average of over 20 wins per year.  He coached three State Champions in 1918, 1922, and 1942, a record that he shared for many years with Decatur’s Gay Kintner.  Coach Trout guided 10 teams to the Sweet 16, including a 2nd place finish in 1946, 3rd place in 1941 with “The Wonder Five,” and 4th place in 1939.  Coach Trout died on January 11, 1956 after suffering a series of heart attacks in the final year of his life.
