Biography:

Ray Meyer is one of the nation’s outstanding basketball coaches and entered the IBCA Hall of Fame in 1974 as a coach.  Ray began his playing days as an outstanding player at St. Patrick’s in Chicago.  He then was a captain of his collegiate team at the University of Notre Dame.  In a short time, Ray was hired as the Head Coach at DePaul University.  He became the face of the university for over 4 decades.  Coach Ray, as he was affectinately called by the many lives he touched, retired after the 1984 season with a record of 724-354.  He is still considered one of the finest coachest in the nation.  Coach received a Lifetime Merit Award from the NABC and is one of a rare group to be inducted into the IBCA Hall of Fame as a player (1973) and as a coach.  Ray is joined in the IBCA Hall of Fame by his son Tom (2000).  Ray Meyer passed away on March 17, 2006.
