Biography: When Schaumburg High School opened its doors in 1971 one of the fixtures installed was Thomas Jacobsen of Schaumburg as a mathematics instructor. Jacobsen became even more of a fixture in the gymnasium for the Saxons’ home games. At the time of his induction he served as the official timer for 290 home varsity games and 290 sophomore games.  From 1989-2000, Jacobsen was also the timer for 150 girls Thanksgiving Tournament games and 120 boys Thanksgiving Tournament games. From 1995-98, Jacobsen worked 12 Freshman Fremburg postseason encounters. Also on Jacobsen’s resume as an official timer are 60 IHSA Regional games.  Timing more than 900 games certainly reflects Jacobsen’s dedication to Schaumburg High School’s boys and girls basketball programs and his willingness and commitment to helping students. From this time and effort Jacobsen insists, “the excitement of a big game, the fun with students and getting to know the coaches from other schools are all positive memories.”  Thomas Jacobsen died on December 10, 2018 at the age of 69.
