Biography: Leonard Perry accomplished the unthinkable. This Chicago policeman attended Marshall High School from 1959-63 and the All-City selection averaged 26 ppg as a junior and senior (Note: there was no 3 point basket in this era of basketball).  Perry played in the state basketball tournament in 1961 for Marshall.  As a junior, Perry proudly points to a 64-61 triple overtime win over a huge DuSable team, at the time ranked No. 1 in the nation, in the Chicago Public League championship game. Perry and Marshall lost the city championship as a senior to Carver and Hall of Famer Cazzie Russell 39-37.  Perry attended Bishop College in Texas. What a 5-foot-10 guard Perry was, as he had the audacity to leave all the college giants of the day in his wake with his jump shot. He averaged 32 points a game and led the NAIA in scoring at the Dallas school which is no longer in operation.
