Biography: Evar Swanson was the first of DeKalb High School’s many great players.  Evar was a great all-around athlete.  After a very successful high school career, Evar attended Lombard College in Galesburg.  At that time, Lombard played a major college schedule.  While there, Evar received 16 athletic letter awards:  4 each in football, baseball, basketball, and track.  At that time, Lombard was a team to be reckoned with.  After college, Evar moved on to major league baseball where his time of 13.3 seconds for circling the bases in 1929 is nearly a full second faster than any other recorded time.  He played for the White Sox, Cardinals, and Reds from 1929-34.  Sadly, Evar passed away on July 17, 1973; before his 1976 induction into the IBCA Hall of Fame.
