Biography: Only three years after merging with Marilac High School, Loyola Academy won its first IHSA State Championships in girls’ basketball.  Led by head coach Tanya Johnson and All-State player Kristin Santa, this team dominated the state tournament.  After beating previously unbeaten Normal West High School in the quarterfinal round, they fought off (Chicago) Marshall High School in the semi-final game to advance to the championship game.  Awaiting them was a tough Taylorville High School squad.   The Ramblers prevailed 59-40 for the title.  Sophomores Olga Gvozdenovic and laura Sabieszczyk, along with junior Jeanette Paukert and senior Kristin Santa led the way.  Kristin set a state tournament game record by hitting seven 3 point shots in the victory.
