Biography: The 1934 Quincy Blue Devils were the first Quincy High School team ever to make a trip to the state finals.  Their playing trademark was “fly paper sticky defense and deliberate offense.”  They beat the defending state champs, (Harvey) Thornton, by a convincing 39-27 score and finished the season with an excellent 31-2 record.  This first great Quincy team was led by their coach, Sam Storby, who is a distinguished member of the IBCA Hall of Fame as a coach.  This team set the stage for a long line of great Quincy basketball teams that continues today.
