Biography: The 1943 Big Ten Champion Illini was recognized as one of the finest teams ever to compete in the league.  Their record of 17-1 overall and 12-0 in conference play was evidence of their great all-around skill and team work.  These attributes earned them the nickname of the “Whiz Kids”.    The University of Illinois starters are shown in the photo.
