Biography:  The 1927 (Cicero) Morton basketball team won the National High School Basketball Championship played at the University of Chicago.  Morton was one of the finest teams ever to represent Illinois in the national playoffs.  A team with great size and excellent guard play, Morton’s style of play was years ahead of its time.  Morton defeated Batesville, Arkansas in the championship game. Interestingly, at the state level, Morton was a district champion who got upset in the Regional but went on to win the national title.
