Hebron High School

Biography:

Russ Ahearn led Hebron High School to the IHSA state championship in 1952.  Hebron was the only district team ever to win the state title.  Russ’s teams won 13 championships, during his years at Hebron, Elgin, Streator Woodland, and Streator High Schools.  He was one of the great coaches in the 1950’s and 1960’s.  His teams had a won/loss rate of 70%.  The Hebron team was inducted into the IBCA Hall of Fame in 1973. 

Russ Ahearn passed away in 1994.
