Biography: Reciting the honors earned by Ralph Allan takes some time. His record as a coach at Milliken University is unmatched. A 1937 Milliken graduate, Allan served as assistant football and basketball coach and head track coach for the Big Blue for two years following graduation. After an interruption for coaching stints at Virden and Wood River High Schools and the U.S. Navy, Allan returned to Milliken in 1947. Allan compiled a 203-169 record in 15 basketball seasons, winning five conference titles and placing second three times. Allan teams were in post-season competition eight times. His 1950-51 team won a school record 24 games and placed second in the NAIA Tournament at Kansas City. Besides heading the athletic department for 14 years, Allan also served as head coach in track, cross country, golf and tennis, with teams earning at least one conference title in every sport except tennis. Ralph was inducted into the Millikin University Hall of Fame in 1970.  It is believed that Ralph Allen is deceased.
