Biography:
Doug Altenberger led Richwoods to three straight Mid-State 10 Conference championships, earning him all-Mid-State 10 Conference honors for all three seasons. He was named all-state as a senior in 1982. Altenberger’s 26.5 season scoring mark is the highest in Richwoods history. His 55 points in one game is an all time conference record and also a Richwoods record. Altenberger didn’t let up at the University of Illinois. He has the distinction of playing more games, 132, than any previous Illini player. He became the 10th leading career scorer at Illinois. He set every single-game, season and career 3-point record for the Orange and Blue. Doug was a third-team all-Big Ten selection in 1987, when he was the Most Valuable Player for the Illini. Doug was drafted by the Chicago Bulls in the 6th round of the 1987 NBA draft.
