Biography: Dave Brooks scored 1,824 career points at Lawrenceville High School where he averaged 25 ppg as both a junior and senior. Brooks was named second team North Egyptian Conference as a sophomore and first team as both a junior and senior. In 1979 Brooks was named the most valuable player for the Class A South in the annual IBCA All-Star game. Brooks also distinguished himself as a player for the United States Naval Academy. A four-year starter, Brooks was Navy’s leading scorer as a freshman, junior and senior. Twice Brooks was named the team’s most valuable player.  He served as captain of the 18-11 Navy team in 1982-83.. That team was the first winning team in three seasons for the Midshipmen. As a senior, Brooks averaged 17 ppg and over his Navy career averaged 13.2 points per game. Brooks scored in double figures in 21 straight games at Navy and scored 1.389 points in his career, good for fourth on the all-time list for Navy at that time.  While the 3-point basket was still an experiment, Brooks hit eight 3-pointers in a game against Penn State. Brooks played 105 games for Navy, the most ever. Many credited the 18 win season in 1982-83, the most by any Navy team in 23 years, as one of the reasons the Navy landed a young recruit named David Robinson.
