Biography: For forty seasons, the late Sam Edelcup coached basketball in the city of Chicago.  He served 15 years at Crane Tech and 22 years at Roosevelt HS.  Each school experienced a City Championship under Sam’s leadership.  He coached all-city players Lou Landt, Bruce Bunkenberg, Eddie Rettenberg and Jerry Malitz.  Edelcup also was the head of the IHSA basketball advisory committee.  His 1952 Roosevelt squad advanced to the Sweet Sixteen at Huff Gym.  Sam Edelcup passed away on May 24, 1975 at the age of 69.
