Biography: William Postl is described as a pioneer coach in the Chicago Public League.  At Tilden Technical High School and Carl Schurz High School, Postl’s teams were among the first to venture out of the city to battle downstate teams.  Postl’s teams posted a career 358-101 record.  Three of his Tilden teams earned berths in the IHSA Sweet Sixteen (1946, 1949, and 1950).  Among the more notable Postl players are Eddie Maracich, John Kerr, and Nick Kladis.  Postl also carved his niche in state baseball annals with 4 state tournament teams.  Tilden won the 1956 title and Schurz won the 1962 crown. William Postl died during September of 1980.
