Highwood Small Fry Basketball

Biography: Verne coached Highland Park area basketball for 38 years.  He began on the junior high and high school levels before settling in as the head coach of the Highwood Small Fry program in 1985.  Small Fry basketball is limited to players up through 12 years of age who are 5’1″ or less.  Through 2010, Verne had a 421-183 record in Small Fry competition with 3 international championships.  He has coached in more games than any other coach in Small Fry’s long history.
