Biography: For 58 years, Brother Eamon Gavin was a Christian Brother. During that time Brother Eamon served as a teacher, principal and athletic director at five different high schools. Brother Eamon’s longest stint as an educator was 31 years at DeLaSalle Institute.  Brother Eamon was a fixture at Meteors’ home basketball games. You could find him taking tickets at the door or mopping the floor because he did everything. His support and encouragement for the coaches and student-athletes was long appreciated and reflected in the fact he is a member of the DeLaSalle Institute Hall of Fame and received the prestigious Gold Medal Award.  His work was recognized throughout the Chicago Catholic League and he is a member of its Hall of Fame. He was acknowledged as “Man of the Year” in 1993. Brother Eamon Gavin was truly a friend of basketball until his passing on March 11,  2008 at age 83.
