Biography: At the 2000 Carbondale IHSA Class A Boys’ Supersectional game, Dennis Stork received a plaque for his 3,000th sports event broadcast. But the Sparta radio and WHCO sports director wasn’t quite finished. Before turning off his microphone for the last time Stork aired his 3,006th event of his 33-year radio career.  He began his duties at WHCO in 1969 and worked with IBCA Hall of Famer Dan Schnoeker for 25 years. Stork assumed WHCO sports director duties upon Schnoeker’s death. Stork, a Lewis University graduate, has described action in 25 state basketball tournaments. He’s also aired state finals in baseball, football, track and cross country. He has broadcast softball and volleyball and provided reports for many other stations through the Spartan Sports Service.
