Biography: William Marshall entered the world of officiating in 1967 after a very successful athletic career. He was one of the initial members of the Metropolitan Officials Association, the first African-American officials association in the Midwest. Bill knew no bounds in his 19-year career as an official, calling grade and high school, junior college, park district and industrial league games.  The leagues Marshall called home included the Chicago Public League, Chicago Catholic League, Illini Eight Conference, United States Steel Mill, Chicago Park District and Chicago Postal Service. The Chicago Public League also had Marshall critique its officials. Marshall also spent many hours holding referee clinics for coaches, players and novice officials.  Marshall is known for his integrity, professional demeanor, keen sense of judgement and the vast respect he received from coaches and players.
