Biography: Jim Vopicka Jr., was a three-year starter for (Cicero) Morton High School. Vopicka averaged 12 points as a sophomore and was named to the all-Suburban team. During his junior year, Vopicka’s average climbed to 20 points as he led Morton to the Sweet Sixteen where it lost in the super-sectional to Thornton. Again an all-Suburban choice, Vopicka was also named to the all-Area team. Vopicka’s senior year brought a 24-point average and selections to the all-State, all-Area, and all-Des Plaines Valley team.  Jim went on to play for the University of Illinois.
