Biography: Derek was the Southern Illinois Player of the Year in 2000, averaging 27 ppg while earning 1st Team all-state honors at (Wolf Lake) Shawnee High School.  He was a two-time conference MVP and scored 2,035 career points.  Derek earned a scholarship to Southeast Missouri State, where he was a 2nd team All-American in 2004 and a 1st team Academic All-American in 2005.  When he graduated, he ranked 5th in career scoring and 2nd in 3-point field goals in Southeast Missouri State history.
