Biography: Entering the 1998-99 season, the Nokomis Girls’ Basketball Team was feeling the pressure to defend their state championship from the previous season.  They played a tough schedule against some of the best teams in Illinois.  In the IHSA state finals, they faced and defeated (Quincy) Notre Dame High School in the quarter final game by a score of 44-40.  The semi-final opponent was another traditional state power, Okawville High School.  They moved to the title game with a 63-54 victory.  In the championship, they faced the #1 rated Carrollton High School team.  The Nokomis squad was again victorious by a score of 45-40 in overtime, securing a 2nd consecutive title.  Molly McDowell led the team and earned numerous postseason honors including Ms. Basketball for 1999.  Molly then played for SIU-Carbondale.  Several of her teammates also played collegiately including Carrie Eisenbarth–Eureka College; Bonnie Brownback–Illinois College; Jessica Hough–Illinois Wesleyan Unversity; Va’ Nicia Waterman–Bradley University; and Lindsay Stauder–Illinois College.  Sadly Head Coach Maury Hough  was unable to attend the induction as he lost his battle with cancer in 2004.
