Biography: The 1963-64 Bradley Braves of coach Chuck Orsborn won the third of their four NIT championships with a record of 23-6 behind captains Levern Tart and Rich Williams. Tart and Joe Strawder both averaged 17 points a game as Bradley twice upset the fourth-ranked team in the nation, Arizona State and Wichita State, won at No. 8 Cincinnati and beat Notre Dame in Chicago Stadium. Bradley finished third in the Missouri Valley Conference and in the NIT at Madison Square Garden beat St. Joseph (Pa.) 83-81, Army 67-52 and New Mexico 86-58.
