Biography: The 1944-45 DePaul Men’s basketball team, captained by the legendary George Mikan, ran to a 21-3 record, which included a 71-54 victory over Bowling Green University for the National Invitational Tournament Championship.  Mikan, only a junior, averaged 23.3 points per game.  Other starters were “Whitey” Kachan, Gene Stump, Jack Allen and Ernie DeBenedetto.
