Biography: Maroa-Forsyth’s “Band of Brothers” was hungry for a return visit to the IHSA State Tournament as their Cinderella story 3rd place finish the season prior left them wanting to achieve the top trophy.  Battling in the tough Okaw Valley Conference, Coach Cluver’s crew took first in the conference tournament, shared in a 3 way tie for the regular season conference title with Warrensburg-Latham High School and Monticello High School.  They were accompanied by conference teams Central A & M and Monticello as teams advancing to the IHSA Sweet Sixteen.  The team won the historic Macon County Tournament and the St. Teresa Holiday Tournament.  The Trojans hit a late-season bump in the road in their only loss of the year–to Monticello.  This fortified their dedication to hard work and to each other.  The “brothers” stepped it up when All-State player, Robert Kreps was sidelined with an emergency appendectomy.  All of the guys delivered with incredible team focus that resulted in a win at the ISU Super-Sectional to advance back to Peoria.  A sore, recovering Robert rejoined his team one week after surgery, and the trust in each other sent them to victory in double overtime against a superb Teutopolis High School team in the semi-final game.  In the final moments of the tight game against another top team, Chicago North Lawndale High School, the Trojans clinched the win with their trademark defense to capture the championship hardware in the final Class A game of the IHSA 2-class system.
