Biography: The 2013 Nashville Hornettes girls’ basketball team etched their name into Illinois high school sports history with a dominant run to the IHSA Class 2A state title.  The Hornettes stormed out of the gate, winning their first 20 games of the season and showcasing a tenacious defense that allowed just 25 points per game.

Nashville captured championships at both the Nashville and Mascoutah Invitationsl and secured a strong 3rd place finish at the competitive Highland Tournament.  They went on to win the River-to-River Conference title, continuing their impressive campaign with consistent, lockdown play.

The Hornettes were unstoppable in the postseason, winning the Ziegler Regional, Red Bud Sectional and Salem Super-sectional before capping off the season with the IHSA 2A state championship.  They defeated all postseason opponents by an average of 19 ppg and remarkably did no lose to a single 2A team all year.  With their balanced attack, relentless defense, and unmatched team chemistry, the 2013 Nashville Hornettes delivered a season for the ages–one marked by excellence, resilience, and championship glory.
