Biography:

Nick was a 6-2 guard-forward who starred at (Chicago) Tilden Tech High School. He was all-city and all-state on Tilden’s 1946 city championship team. He also led Tilden to the 1947 Stagg Tournament title, scoring 23 of his team’s 44 points.

Nick was an All-American at Loyola University, scoring 1,046 career points (Note that there was no 3 point field goal in this era) and having his No. 3 jersey retired. He was called to military service in 1952-53, but later returned to Loyola and was a volunteer assistant coach on the 1963 national championship team.
