Biography: Gerald D. Phillips played an inaugural role in developing the great basketball traditions at Galesburg HS.  Gerald coached the Silver Streaks from 1929 to 1951 compiling a 331-180 record.  Sixteen of those teams gained regional championships.  In addition, six of these clubs made the state tournament.  In 1931, Galesburg finished second to Decatur.  During his Galesburg years, Phillips produced 10 allstate players before retiring to Florida.
