Biography: At the time of his induction, Richard Pierce had been a conscientious and devoted friend of basketball for 34 years. For 34 years he has been the high school basketball scorekeeper at Woodland High School and Streator High School. From 1956-1963 Pierce kept score for all games at Woodland High School and served as statistician for that school’s football team and as correspondent for the local newspapers. From 1963 through his induction, he had been the scorekeeper for the Streator Bulldogs. Eight of those years he was the team statistician and for the next 19 years served as timer for the football team. In 1976, Pierce was the assistant scorer for the IHSA Class AA Boys State Tournament and in 1977 he was the head scorer. Beginning in 1980 through 1996, Pierce was the statistician for the state tournament in Champaign.
