Biography: Before beginning a career in education, Wib Ragland served six years in the United States Air Force. He started the first football program in the state of Alaska. Wib became an associate basketball coach at Pinckneyville High School from 1939-1976 and worked with the football, track, tennis, golf and gymnastics teams. His sophomore basketball teams won countless titles. Ragland served six years in the United States Air Force. He started the first football program in the state of Alaska. Many great names and teams have been associated with Pinckneyville High School and Wib Ragland touched many of them in his capacity with the Panthers. Pinckneyville athletes, no matter where they are, certainly know Wib Ragland as a friend of basketball.  Wib Ragland died on March 7, 2004.
