Biography: How many people do you know who have a seat in their favorite high school gymnasium with their name painted on it. If you knew Dorothy Liesman of Mason City, you knew at least one. Dorothy supported Mason City basketball for nearly 40 years. She said there are good years and bad years, but had difficulty remembering too many bad years for Mason City basketball. For a number of years, Dorothy took the team out to eat. Dorothy attended all sports at Mason City, but her favorite was basketball. Some days found her at an afternoon grade school game and a high school boys’ or girls’ game that same night. When the Huskies make it to the sectional or state tournament, Liesman delighted in painting up the windows in town for the Huskies. “Mason City is my team,” this true friend of basketball would say.  Dorothy Liesman died on June 15, 2007 at the age of 89.
