Biography: Bud Scranton had always been a great sports fan. Besides playing basketball and baseball for many years, Scranton was keenly interested in high school sports. Scranton coached many youth groups in Payson. Scranton was the official scorekeeper for the Payson-Seymour High School for 32 years, leading to his induction. In 1988 and 1989, Scranton worked the IHSA Boys’ Class A State Tournament in that capacity. Scranton worked all home and away games and was never late for a game. He donated his time, never accepting money. Scranton was also active in community affairs such as his church, the Lions Club, the Athletic Club and many fundraisers. Scranton worked all-star games and shootouts for a number of years.  Bud Scranton died on September 15, 2018 at the age of 93.
