Biography: 

Wesley Wilson, of Havana, worked a varsity high school basketball schedule as an official from 1954 through 1990 when he blew his whistle for the last time.  In addition to high school games, he worked a junior college schedule for 18 seasons and spent seven seasons as an official for the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin.

As a junior college official, Wilson worked six NJCAA Regional finals and three state finals.  His abilities earned him 18 IHSA high school regionals, eight sectionals, five super-sectionals, and three Class A State finals.  Wilson was a part of history in the Illinois High School Association’s March Madness when he completed a three year run as an official in the State Finals in 1983.

Wilson, along with Don Brady of Neponset, had the privilege of officiating the state title game between Flanagan and Lawrenceville.  That game matched two unbeaten teams for the first time in a state title game.  It found Marty Simmons battling Flanagan’s Bill Braksick.  When it was over, Coach Ron Felling’s Lawrenceville club had won its second straight championship with identical 34-0 records to establish the state win streak record of 68.

Wilson, became an honorary official in 1991 and worked the IBCA All-Star game in 1984.
