Biography: Dean Fisher, of Colchester, began his career at Blandinsville High School in 1946, where for four years he participated in basketball, football and track. In his spare time, and when he did not have a game, he could be found at the grade school keeping score, keeping time or being a statistician. Following graduation in 1950, Fisher assumed similar responsibilities at Northwestern High School in Sciota, where he continued his volunteer commitment for many years under the guidance of former head coach, Lupe Rios. He was involved in both boys’ and girls’ sports at Northwestern for more than 40 years. For 38 years, he spent countless hours at Western Illinois University’s football, basketball and track as a scorekeeper, statistician and time keeper. He demonstrated endless assistance to his community and its athletic programs. He assisted WKAI radio sports broadcasters as a back-up commentator, statistician and score keeper. The veteran sportsman did not miss an assignment. Fisher served three years as an assistant and chief statistician for the Illinois IHSA Boys’ Class A basketball tournament. Dean always helped with the Macomb super-sectional. For more than 10 years he was an IHSA football, basketball, baseball and track official. Moving to Colchester in 1981,he assumed similar responsibilities for the Colchester schools in basketball and baseball.

Dean Fisher died on February 25, 2008 at the age of 75.
