Biography:
Bill Finn compiled a 506-210 record in 22 years as head coach at Moraine Valley Community College in Palos Hills. He never had a losing season and his teams were ranked among the top five in the nation in defense 15 times.
Finn took five teams to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II tournament. The Cyclones finished in the Final Four in 1990, 1999 and 2003 and reached the Elite Eight in 2002. His 1999-2000 team was ranked sixth in the nation.
Finn received many coaching honors before he stepped away from the sideline after the 2003-04 season. He was IBCA Junior College Division II Coach of the Year four times, Illinois Region IV Coach of the Year four times, Skyway Community College Conference Coach of the Year five times and North Central Community College Conference Coach of the Year five times.
He began as Moraine Valley’s athletic director in 1983. During his prep days he was an all-conference player at (Oak Lawn) Richards High School. He became an NAIA all-district selection and two-year team captain at Loras College (IA).
