Biography: McLeansboro High School’s Willie Grubb crafted a 527-177 record during 25 seasons in charge of the girls’ basketball program. His teams won 10 IHSA Regional and 3 IHSA Sectional titles while having only two losing seasons. Grubb’s teams posted 17 seasons with 20 or more wins with two streaks of eight consecutive seasons where they reached that milestone. His best seasons record-wise were 30-4 in 2004-05, 29-5 in 2005-06, 28-3 in 1986-87 and 25-3 in 1992-93. He is a graduate of McLeansboro HS and was the freshman boys’ coach for seven seasons before taking over the girls’ program. He also coached the varsity boys’ team at Bluford High School.
