Biography:

Tom England of Springfield officiated basketball at the high school and college levels for 23 years. He worked in 3 IHSA state tournaments, 6 IHSA supersectionals, 8 IHSA sectionals,  at least 16 IHSA regionals and more than a dozen IHSA district tournaments.

He worked games in the Macoupin, Sangamon and Mason county tournaments. He also officiated small college and junior college games along with the Big 12 and Central State 8 conference finals.

England served as supervisor for the Central State 8 Officials for football and boys’ and girls’ basketball for five years. He was also a football official for 15 years and a baseball umpire for 10 years. The member of the Springfield Hall of Fame was a teacher, coach and administrator in Springfield for 18 years.

England died on August 15, 2007 at the age of 76.
