Biography:

(Lincolnshire) Stevenson High School became one of the state’s premier girls’ basketball programs during the 19-year head coaching career of Frank Mattucci. He compiled a 353-154 record in 15 years at Stevenson and won IHSA Class AA state titles in 1995 and 1996. The Patriots also went to the Elite Eight in 2001 and won 30 or more games five times during Frank’s tenure.

He was 102-14 in four seasons at (Chicago) Luther North High School for a career record of 455-146 with 14 IHSA Regional, 11 conference and 16 holiday tournament titles. His teams made 12 IHSA Sectional final appearances and achieved four No. 1 rankings in the Associated Press final regular-season poll.

Frank was named IBCA Class AA Coach of the Year six times and Class A District Coach of the Year four times. He was named IBCA Class AA state Coach of the Year twice and IGCA Coach of the Year once. He was named Women’s Basketball National Coach of the Year in 1995 and WBCA National Coach of the Year by Nike in 1996, when he coached the WBCA Nike All-American game. He was inducted into the St. Patrick Hall of Fame in 1999 and the Stevenson Hall of Fame in 2019.
