Biography: Dean is a respected veteran sportswriter who has covered the Metro East area for 33 years. He began his sports journalism career at the Freeport Journal, but moved to the Belleville News-Democrat in 1987.  Dean has a unique familiarity with all of the schools in the Southwestern Illinois region. Having covered the schools for such an extensive period of time, he provides his readers with some of the best prep sports insights anywhere in Illinois.
