Biography: Neil worked for The Chicago Tribune on a full time basis from 1968-2008 and as a contributing reporter from 2008-2014.  During the 1980’s Neil covered Northwestern University, The University of Illinois-Champaign, The University of Illinois–Chicago; Loyola University–Chicago; and Valparaiso University basketball.  Neil also covered Northern Illinis University and Chicago State University at different times of his career.  He worked with the Missouri Valley Conference, Big Ten Conference and Horizon League.  He reported on both the Men’s and Women’s NCAA Final Fours and covered high school basketball on Chicago’s North Shore.
