Biography: Steve has worked 33 regionals, eight sectionals, four super-sectionals and two state finals in his 40 years of officiating.
He has officiated games at all levels: junior high, junior varsity and varsity.  Steve has worked more than 15 holiday tournaments, including Quincy, Macomb, Pittsfield, Quincy Notre Dame and Winchester. Former Pittsfield coach and IBCA Hall of Famer David Bennett called Smith “the top referee in west central Illinois and one of the best in the state.”  Steve died at the age of 65 on December 29, 2020.
