Biography: Gary’s long love affair with basketball is evidenced by the fact he’s attended state tournaments for 55 years in both Champaign and Peoria. He also has attended tournaments in Pontiac, Centralia, Proviso West, Chicago and Collinsville.  Gary helped start and organize the Alton Area Athletic Association in 1975. The association was instrumental in beginning a program for seventh and eighth grade basketball.  For 33 years, he was chairman of the Alton Area Exchange Club Basketball Player of the Year banquet.
