Biography: Carl moved to Effingham in the early 1960s and quickly became one of Effingham St. Anthony’s biggest fans and benefactors. He helped start a cooperative golf tournament to raise funds for the Effingham and St. Anthony athletic programs.  Carl passed away on Jan. 20, 2011, and the golf tournament has been named the Carl P. Koerner Sportsbackers Tournament in his memory. After 21 years, the tournament has raised more than $600,000 for Effingham and St. Anthony athletics.  Carl passed awy on July 21, 2017.
