Biography: Delores (Dee) Vinje made her mark on Rockford Boylan basketball players for more than 25 years. At least on their taste buds. Dee has been the cafeteria manager at Boylan and works from early morning making rolls and donuts and continues through the day preparing meals for students. She is also around many evenings preparing meals for basketball and other sports banquets along with other evening events through the year.  She wasn’t a basketball fan until she was talking into attending a Titans game by Mrs. Lil Ferraro, who preceded her in the IBCA Hall of Fame (1999 inductee). Dee walks with a cane and has become known as the “Cane Lady” by players, students and coaches for her chant of “defense, defense.”   The Rockford resident keeps game officials on their toes because they know Dee will let them know when and if she thinks they made a bad call. She is better known and appreciated by Titan basketball players for her special treats and snacks she prepares for them. Dee’s cane and her cookies have made a big impression on Boylan basketball. No wonder the Boylan basketball program is such a success.
