Biography: Tim Fairchild compiled a phenomenal 534-263 record as the Champaign Centennial girls’ varsity basketball coach from 1978-79 until his retirement after the 2006-07 season. Fairchild won seven Big 12 Conference championships – including five in a row from 1999-2000 to 2003-04. His teams won 18 IHSA Regionals (9 of 10 from 1995-2004) and 5 IHSA Sectionals (3 in a row from 2002-04). The 2002 and 2003 teams finished 31-3 and made the Class AA Elite Eight. Sixteen of his teams won 20 or more games and he is in the IHSA’s top 25 for career girls’ basketball victories and the top 20 for victories at one school.
