Biography:  At the time of his induction, Dick Biery’s Carthage High School girls’ basketball team had capped his 20-year coaching career by successfully defending its 1992 Class A State basketball champijoship while rolling to a 32-1 season in 1993.   Dick’s overall record is a stellar 439-95.  His teams won 12 West Central Conference Championships, outright and tied for 5 others over the previous 18 years of girls’ conference competition.

His record included 16 IHSA Regional championsips and 7 IHSA Sectional titles.  Four of his teams made it to the IHSA Elite 8.  In addition to the IHSA state titles in 1992 and 1993, his teams earned a second place in 1987 and a 4th place in 1990.  Including the 1992-93 season, his teams won 20+ games in 11 of the previous 12 seasons.  

Dick has been named the IBCA District Coach of the Year 7 times.  In addition to his coaching duties at Carthage, Dick served as athletic director for 34 years.  For these many accomplishments, Dick is one of the first girls’ coaches inducted into the IBCA Hall of Fame.
