Biography:

Chuck Blake is synonymous with girls’ basketball success in Bureau County as he compiled a 603-306 record in 33 seasons as a head coach at three schools. Chuck was 261-79 in 13 years at Neponset, 161-87 in 9 years at Kewanee Wethersfield and 181-140 in 11 years at Kewanee before he retired after the 2017 season. He had five 20-win seasons at Kewanee and his last team finished 24-5. Blake had a three-year run of sectional titles at Neponset from 1991-93 where his team was 78-8. He also won 4 regionals and a sectional and had a pair of 26-2 seasons at Wethersfield.

At the time of his induction, Blake’s teams won 18 holiday tournaments and conference or invitational championships and nine regular-season conference championships, 12 IHSA Class A regionals and four sectionals. Four times he was named IBCA District Coach of the Year and he was the Bureau County Republic Coach of the Year four times. Chuck was head coach of the IBCA All-Star game in 1988 and he coached eight IBCA all-state players.
