Biography:
Jamie Brandon is one of the most celebrated players in Illinois prep history. The four-year starter at powerhouse (Chicago) King High School, was a three-time Class AA all-state selection and Illinois’ Mr. Basketball in 1990. He won an IHSA Class AA state title in 1990 as a senior, played on three Elite Eight teams and was named to the “100 Legends of the Boys Basketball State Tournament.”
Brandon’s 3,157 points ranked third in state history for a career as recently as 2021. He earned all-state tourney honors his last two seasons, with 106 points and 25 rebounds in 1990 and 25 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists in the title-game victory. He had 100 points and 26 rebounds for the 1989 third-place finisher, had 26 points and 8 rebounds in a supersectional loss to Chicago Simeon in 1988 and had 41 points, 15 rebounds and 14 assists as a freshman for the state runnnerup.
Brandon played for three years at Louisiana State University and was a teammate of Shaquille O’Neal. He scored 1,055 points and averaged 12.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists. He also played professionally in France, Croatia, Finland and Honduras.
