At the time of his induction, Paul Cannon had been the scorekeeper for Sterling High School the past 13 years, even though he has retired from teaching.  Paul has done a tremendous and invaluable job of supplying the coaches of Sterling teams, hometown and visiting media with statistics.

Paul attended Harrisburg and Galatia High Schools, graduating in 1953.  He graduated from Southern Illinois University in 1957.  He taught in the Sterling school system from 1961-1994 and coached a variety of teams from rural grade school and girls’ teams to junior high teams.   Along with coaching duties, he provided help to the players and coaches of the district.

Sterling High School basketball coach, Frank M. Lee said in his 10 years at Sterling, he’s found Cannon’s work “second to none.”  Lee says he has never seen a person more devoted to the game, the players or the basketball community than Paul Cannon.
